Where is the Sun and the Wind?

Be aware of the four directions that weather, wind and advantages (like a nice view) and threats (like fire) come from. Plan to take advantage of nature’s

assistance and minimise threats.

Plants need the right amount of sun, but the wind can be tough on them.

Notice which direction both sun and wind come from so you can put plants where they get the right amount of sun, and protection from the wind.

The sun rises from the East, moves across the sky, then sets in the west. In winter the north part of your house and garden gets the most sun. (In the southern hemisphere, like Australia)

Threats to your house and garden, like fire, floods and strong winds, usually come from particular directions (sectors) too. Know this to help you work with nature to protect your home and garden.
